Technical Work
Propose a Technical Topic
How eligible members may bring a defined technical need into the controlled Technical Work assessment process.
Technical topic proposals
A technical proposal starts with a defined need, not a preferred document title.
A relevant member may raise a technical question through the designated controlled channel when that route is available. This public page explains the assessment model; it does not provide a duplicate public submission form.
Define the question
Describe the aerospace relevance, affected audience, known evidence, existing systems, apparent gap and why AF may have an appropriate role.
Choose the proportionate route
Is the subject sufficiently defined, already addressed elsewhere, appropriate for research or dialogue, supported by expertise and capable of a limited voluntary output?
Not every proposal becomes a document
The outcome may be a landscape review, research question, Working Group, consultation, framework, guidance, recommended practice, referral to another system or no new AF work.
Contribution remains controlled
Membership does not guarantee a project, Working Group appointment, technical authority or Recognition.
Eligible members receive information about the appropriate topic channel when it is available. Public Technical Work pages explain the system without creating an unsafe or duplicative public workflow.
Understand the distinction
Prepare an assessable question.
These prompts are explanatory preparation—not a public submission or a new eligibility test.
Problem and users
What activity is affected? Who needs a better answer, and what practical decision should the work support? Identify an observed need rather than a preferred document title.
Place the question in a domainExisting landscape and evidence
Which rules, standards, research or practices already address it? Explain the apparent gap and the limits of available evidence without presuming a standards project.
Existing AF publication statusControlled member channel
Eligible members receive the appropriate channel information when it is available. No duplicate public proposal form is introduced, and membership does not guarantee a project.
